Biography

Leo Geller is a guitarist and composer based in Lyon, France.
In love with the music of John Coltrane, he decided to devote his life to jazz and improvised music around the age of 19.
He trained at the conservatories of Chalon-sur-Saône, Villeurbanne and Lyon, alongside private lessons with Gaël Horellou and Romain Pilon.

He channels his compositions and his own musical world through his personal project, LEO GELLER 4TET, with which he won the JazzContreBand festival competition in 2023 and has played stages including Jazz à Vienne, Cosmo Jazz Festival, Rhino Jazz Festival, the Crescent Jazz Festival and many others.
The project's new album, "Love & Spirit," was released on October 9, 2026 on the renowned Spanish label Fresh Sound New Talent.

Since September 2025, he has organized LA JAM A LIO, a twice-monthly jazz jam session that has become an important gathering point for the Lyon jazz community.

In 2026 he launches TRANE 63, a tribute to John Coltrane with the wonderful pianist Étienne Déconfin.

Inspired by musicians such as Kurt Rosenwinkel and Bill Frisell, he works to find a personal and sincere voice and sound — and to express it across the different projects where he plays as a sideman: from the contemporary tango of QUINTETO LIBERTAD! to the delightfully offbeat pop of PETITE MAGIC.
